It surely made a difference on me. Several microscopic techniques and bio-photonic tools that enabled my research careers will be reviewed to exemplify what challenges a biologist would encounter to comfortably apply these methodologies to address the biological questions in which he or she is interested. I will also depict a blueprint regarding if and how “contract microscopy services” can be developed into a business model (or NPO) to serve the biomedical society.

- 演講題目:1D- and 2D-Low Dimensional Materials for Innovative Nanoelectronics: How the TEM Help Us to Disclose Microstructures towards Composition/Phase Engineering

- Abstract:
Low dimensional nanomaterials have attracted much attention due to their unique fundamental properties and their potential applications in nanodevices. Nanoscale materials, compared to their bulk dimensions, can possess superior electrical, optical, and mechanical properties, resulting in excellent mechanical toughness, high luminescence efficiency, enhancement of thermoelectric property and low lasing threshold voltage. Most importantly, the synthesis of nanomaterials is a critical step for the application of innovative nanodevices. In this talk, I will focus on the finely controllable synthesis of various novel low dimensional materials, including 1D nanowire and 2D layered materials such as TMDs and graphene toward the exploration of unique physical properties. The studies of microstructures to towards different controllability such as compositions and phases on these 1D- and 2D-low dimensional structures will be introduced. In addition, the how the applications based on these novel 1D- and 2D- low dimensional materials into innovative nanoelectronics such as transistor, memory, photo-sensors and gas sensors will be introduced.
- 個人簡介:
Prof. Yu-Lun Chueh received his Ph.D degree from the department of materials science and engineering, National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan in 2006 and worked as postdoctor in electrical engineering and computer science, UC Berkeley from 2007-2009. He joined the department of materials science and engineering, National Tsing Hua University in 2009. Currently, He is a professor in the department of materials science and engineering, National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan. He has published 285 peer-reviewed papers and 25 patents with total citations >13800 and h-index of 54. He has been selected as an Associate Academician of Asia Pacific Academy of Materials in 2017, Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry in 2018, MOST Research Award in 2019, Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3) in 2020 and Fellow of the Optical Society (OSA) in 2020. He also serves as members of the editor-in-chief for Nanoscale Research letters (IF:3.581), associate editor for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology letters (IF:1.15) and the editorial board for Journal of nanomaterials (IF:1.98) and Scientific Reports (IF:3.998) as well as being a chair or a member of technical/steering committees for international symposiums.
The research activities of his lab are highly interdisciplinary and are committed to exploring new unpredicted levels of functional materials to enable new schemes on manipulating and processing of engineering nanomaterials in nanoelectronics and energy harvesting applications. He is committed to currently realize intellectual visions through studies on four major areas toward New Material Technologies: (1) Development of Cu(In, Ga)Se2 solar cell and its investigation on light-harvesting behaviors, (2) Development of various method to synthesize different Graphene/two-dimensional materials, (3) Low power resistive random access memory and (4) Growth of low dimensional materials and its possible functional application.
